On November 26 - 29, 2009, the Manila Auto Salon (MAS) 2009 will be held again at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City. It’s beside the SM Mall of Asia (MOA).

Please click here for the details.
Also, you can read here my post about the MAS 2008. I had fun watching the cars and the promo girls.

I live in Zabarte Road in Novaliches, Quezon City and I work at the corner of Makati Avenue and Sen. G. Puyat Avenue in Makati City. I normally pass by Commonwealth Avenue and Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) in going to the office and vice versa. The distance is 30 kilometers. Or, I travel about 60 kilometers in going to and from work.
There’s another way. It’s via Quirino Highway, Mindanao Avenue and EDSA. Since the time we transferred to Novaliches more than 20 years, I seldom and dreaded pass along this highway because the road and traffic were very bad. The highway has been repaired two or three years ago. But, I thought the traffic hadn’t improved.
About three months ago, I passed along Quirino Highway and noticed that the traffic has improved a lot. And, it is shorter by 3.8 kilometers. Since then, I always pass along this highway and convinced that this is the shorter and faster way to my work or to North Avenue and beyond.
I haven’t updated this blog for about four months because I’ve become busy. I have so many posts to make but I don’t have the luxury of time. I have other blogs and I seldom make posts in them too.
Out of curiosity, I checked the PRs of my blogs. Holy cow! This blog’s PR2. It had been PR0 since I created it last March 2008 until my last post of February 14, 2009.
Do you know now how to increase you PR?
Our Kia Carens has run more than 20,000 kms. (actually, it’s close to 21,000 kms.) and already due for the Periodic Maintenance Service (PMS).
I brought the car to Kia Pasig this morning. The service advisor informed me of the additional works to be done for this PMS. The air filter and the aircon filter would be replaced.
While the car was being serviced, I just stayed at the Customer’s Lounge.
When the service was finished, the bill was shown to me. The total cost is P7,661.00.

This morning, I was surprised to see the price of diesel in Shell and Caltex stations dropped by 50 centavos. It’s bad news for petrol users as the petrol prices have increased.
Thus, the new prices of fuel in Novaliches, Fairview, and Commonwealth Avenue areas are:
The difference between diesel and unleaded is now P8.80.
I thought I gonna miss the Carshow & Technology Nights at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. The show started last Friday, January 30, and will end today, February 1. Fortunately, we went to SM MOA yesterday and passed by the carshow on our way home.
I’m sharing some of the pictures I’ve taken:
I’m traveling to Leyte this morning. On my way to the airport, I noticed that Pilipinas Shell and Chevron have already implemented the diesel price rollback by 75 centavos.
The diesel price now in Novaliches, Fairview, Commonwealth Avenue, & East Avenue areas is now P24.45.
The diesel price war in Novaliches and Fairview areas extends to Commonwealth Avenue and East Avenue in Quezon City.
I observed that gasoline stations (Big 3 and other players) along Commonwealth Avenue, from Fairview to Elliptical Road, and East Avenue slashed their diesel price to P25.20 per liter, matching the diesel price in Novaliches and Fairview areas. They, however, maintained the petrol prices at P33 plus. They may have noticed that no public utility vehicles were refilling in their stations, hence the reduction.
This is good news to motorists living nearby and those who passby this avenue.
Along EDSA in Quezon City, the diesel price is P29.98, while in Mandaluyong and Makati Cities P30.98.
As of yesterday, the lowest diesel price is in UniOil Regalado Avenue at P24.95.
On my way home, I heard in the news that UniOil has reduced its diesel and kerosene prices by P2 per liter effective 2:00 PM today. Eastern Petroleum will also slash its diesel price by P1 per liter effective 12:01 AM tomorrow.
I passed by Regalado Avenue in Novaliches and checked the UniOil priceboard. Its price of diesel is now P24.95, which was used to be P25.60. Hence, the reduction is 65 centavos only and not P2.00. Nonetheless, UniOil price’s now lower by 25 centavos from the Big 3 prices.
Would the Big 3 follow suit and match or even beat UniOil’s price?
While our Kia Carens was being repaired at Kia Pasig, I was thinking of going somewhere else and just come back after lunch. But, the service advisor led me to their Customers’ Lounge. Inside, I changed my mind and whiled away the time there instead.
What had I done during my three and a half hour stay in the lounge?
Here are the pictures:
