Our Kia Carens is already four months old and has logged more than 5,000 kilometers. It is now due for the Periodic Maintenance Service (PMS). A vehicle is required to change its engine oil and replace the oil filter at a certain period or distance it traveled. Generally, it is every three months or 5,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. This requirement varies depending on the type of the engine. Owners of brand new cars must adhere to this requirement during the warranty period in order not to void the car’s warranty. For the Kia Carens, this requirement must be done every 5,000 kms. for diesel engine or 7,500 kms. for gas engine.
Since this is my first Kia car, I was undecided where to have the PMS done. Some Kia owners recommended Kia Pasig and some Kia Pasay. I was about to have it done at Kia Pasig until I learned about Kia Mandaluyong. The latter is along my way to office (located at EDSA just before MRT Boni Avenue); hence, it is convenient for me. The other Kia service centers are both out of my way.
This morning, I arrived at Kia Mandaluyong before 8:00 AM. And, the mileage (or kilometrage) already read 5,233. I was planning to leave the car and proceed to the office to work, which is about two kilometers, then return after lunch to redeem the car. Seeing the traffic along EDSA, I decided to wait at the customers’ lounge. To make my waiting time worthwhile, I converted it into my office since I was alone there. I put out my lappy and worked. The service was completed in 2 ½ hours. I paid the amount of about P1,600 for the materials only as the labor for the first service was free.
